چکیده

Purpose A major challenge of homeopathic basic research is to develop test systems that yield consistent results. Outcome of plant bioassays is usually based on growth parameters (e.g. germination rate, seedling length, leaf area). We aimed to evaluate the potential of a crystallisation method with additives ("biocrystallisation”) as a complementary outcome measure. The method used is based on the crystallographic phenomenon that when crystallising watery solutions of dihydrate CuCl2 in the presence of organic additions (juices/extracts), reproducible dendritic crystal structures are observed. The resulting biocrystallograms can be evaluated visually and/or by computerized image analysis.

Development of a Biocrystallisation Assay for Examining Effects of Homeopathic Preparations Using Cress Seedlings

A major challenge in basic research into homeopathic potentisation is to develop bioassays that yield consistent results. We evaluated the potential of a seedling-biocrystallisation method. Cress seeds (Lepidium sativum L.) germinated and grew for 4 days in vitro in Stannum metallicum 30x or water 30x in blinded and randomized assignment. 15 experiments were performed at two laboratories. CuCl...

Evaluation of the Allelopathic Potential of Some Weeds on Germination Characteristics and Photosynthetic Pigments of Cress Seedlings (Lepidium sativum)

DOR: 98.1000/2383-1251.1398.6.129.11.1.1575.41 Extended abstract Introduction: Interference includes competition for environmental potentials and allelopathy. By releasing chemical compounds, usually of secondary metabolites, in various ways such as root exudation, decomposition, leaching and volatilization, allelopathic weeds may have positive, negative or even neutral effects on crops. ...

P01.34. Use of plant bioassays in homeopathic basic research: a systematic review

Methods A literature search was carried out on publications that reported experiments with homeopathic preparations on whole plants, seeds, plant parts and cells from 1920 to 2010, in healthy, abiotically or biotically stressed conditions. Outcomes had to be measured by established state-of-the-art procedures and statistically evaluated. Using a Manuscript Information Score (MIS), publications ...

The NADPH-oxidase AtrbohB plays a role in Arabidopsis seed after-ripening.

*Seeds can enter a state of dormancy, in which they do not germinate under optimal environmental conditions. Dormancy can be broken during seed after-ripening in the low-hydrated state. *By screening enhancer trap lines of Arabidopsis, we identified a role for the NADPH-oxidase AtrbohB in after-ripening. Semiquantitative PCR was used to investigate AtrbohB transcripts in seeds. These methods we...

Potent endogenous allelopathic compounds in Lepidium sativum seed exudate: effects on epidermal cell growth in Amaranthus caudatus seedlings

Many plants exude allelochemicals--compounds that affect the growth of neighbouring plants. This study reports further studies of the reported effect of cress (Lepidium sativum) seed(ling) exudates on seedling growth in Amaranthus caudatus and Lactuca sativa. In the presence of live cress seedlings, both species grew longer hypocotyls and shorter roots than cress-free controls. The effects of c...
